I’m glad that Ferguson is getting attention, seriously I am, but I haven’t seen ONE post about what is happening over seas. Not even one post about the pictures above. Children are being beheaded and dragged into the streets where they are then shot because their families are Christian. Women are being raped and murdered. Men are being murdered. PEOPLE are dying. It’s a Christian Holocaust. And I haven’t seen anything on Tumblr.
Why aren’t any of you furious about this?! Where’s the “social justice?” ISIS is murdering people who don’t convert to Islam (yes, I know they’re extremists and not all Muslims are like that. Save yourself the rant) but I really want to know why this hasn’t been given the attention it deserves.
Seriously, guys. This is really scary, and we need to raise attention for these people. They so desperately need our prayers and support.
It’s not getting attention because on Tumblr, Christians are seen as the oppressor and the Muslims as the oppressed.
protip: don’t compare things to the holocaust. don’t do that.
genocide is the word you’re looking for.
also, christians ARE the oppressors and muslims ARE the oppressed. that hasn’t changed—that’s like saying what’s happening in Israel makes Jewish people no longer oppressed.
Anyway, signal boosting but PLEASE give more information? “over seas”? Where is this happening? Where specifically? We need to know these kind of things before we are able to help at all.
tomibunny I think you need to rethink that statement: “also, christians ARE the oppressors and muslims ARE the oppressed.”
The situation going on in Iraq is an example where Christians ARE being oppressed. Not all Christians are the same just as not all Muslims are the same. The ISIS are beheading/killing people that are proclaiming to be Christians for not renouncing their faith and converting to Islam.
Again, not all Christians are the same just as not all Muslims are the same. The fact that you claim that it’s the other way around just shows the nature of this website and frankly it’s hatred for anyone who claims to be a Christian. I could claim that I was asexual and thousands of people would support me and run to my aid if I was being bullied, but to say I’m a Christian is like committing the biggest social media crime of this century.
Anyone who proclaims to be a Christian and does not display love, understanding, are cruel to others, etc. is NOT a Christian (such as Westboro Baptist Church).
Both people groups are oppressed in different scenarios, to disagree would be ignorant. It’s not a secret that Muslims are often oppressed here in the states, especially after what occurred on September 11th. But to say that Christians that are in Iraq are not being oppressed is wrong. Did you know in China if you are discovered to have a Bible or anything that ties you to Jesus that you’ll be thrown in jail? Every religion is oppressed, just because you can’t see it in the U.S because of our culture deeming people who just go to church ‘christians’ doesn’t mean that they aren’t oppressed.
My friends who live in the Middle East are housing some of the Christians that have fled in fear for their lives, so please, PLEASE do not tell me that Christians are not being oppressed. It is not all Muslims that are being the oppressors, but rather the ISIS.
It’s not as if this website cares what happens to Christians if you’re all honest with yourself. Many of us that are Christians are faced with horrible posts on a daily basis of someone saying that they are Christians and yet they hate someone for their gender, race, financial situations, etc. To speak out and say you’re a Christian is apparently one of the worst things you could do on this website. As a Christian, a REAL Christian, it’s about acceptance. I may not agree with everything this world does or says, but that does not make it okay to verbally or physically attack them. That goes for trying to force someone into a religion they do not wish to be in. If anyone who claims to be a Christian does this, then they are most likely not a follower of Christ.
The genocide that is being carried out in Iraq by the ISIS will never be brought to a huge public light because unfortunately, nobody cares if Christians die. Even these families who are just living out their faith in peace. If we’re being real, if it were the other way around, this would be frontline news and on everyone’s dashboards. There are extremists from every religion that do unspeakable horrible things just as there are people being oppressed from every religion.
I beg everyone to consider this: If we are standing with Ferguson in the face of police brutality and justice for Mike Brown, why are we not standing for the slaughter of innocent lives in Iraq? If it’s because of their religion, isn’t that the same as not standing for Mike Brown because of race?
